Here is how we select among the tremendous amount of talent of which we are made aware.

CRITERIA
Gus Patrick Miller Scholarships are awarded based on character, personal merit and commitment. Merit is demonstrated through leadership in school, civic and extracurricular activities, academic achievement, and motivation to serve and succeed.

PROCESS
Selection of each Gus Patrick Miller Scholar occurs in three phases, beginning each Fall and culminating the following Spring with the announcement of the award recipients.

PHASE I. The first application seeks a record of the student's overall involvement in school and community affairs as well as academic success and employment. This application is due October 31st and culminates in the selection of semi-finalists in December of that same year. Students may apply online via this site after the Labor Day holiday of each academic year. The    Click here to access the online application

PHASE II. Semifinalists are notified and sent an expanded application in mid-December that requires detailed biographical data, an essay, a secondary school report and personal recommendations. Following the January deadline, the Gus Patrick Miller Program Review Committee selects the Finalists to be invited to participate in Phase III.

PHASE III. In the spring of each program year, the selected Finalists will attend the Gus Patrick Miller Scholar's Weekend in Seattle WA, at the Foundation's expense, to determine recipients of each level of award and to meet our founder, Mr. Stanley Jerome Johnson. The Gus Patrick Miller Foundation Selection Committee designates finalists after a weekend of interviews, formal and impromptu activities. All finalists will be notified in writing within 15 business days after the conclusion of the Gus Patrick Miller's Scholar Weekend.
