Gus Patrick Miller was a dedicated teacher who was extremely devoted to his students. He was a patient, kind and caring man who enriched the lives of all who knew him--from his students and colleagues, to his family and friends, to neighborhood children who came to him for advice and help with schoolwork.
Mr. Miller was born in Jackson, Mississippi. He was raised in Detroit and graduated from Northwestern High School. He served in the Army and was honorably discharged, after which he worked in an automobile plant.
After experiencing a successful kidney transplant in 1976, Gus Miller felt that he had been given a new lease on life. He became determined to attain a profession wherein he could "give something back." He began his studies at Highland Park Community College and went on to earn his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Mathematics from Wayne State University, College of Education.
Mr. Miller taught math and computer science at Southfield Public Schools Adult Education Center, at the Perdue School in Pontiac, and at Highland Park Community College.
He was a member of the Pontiac Education Association and the National Education Association; and was actively involved in the Kidney Foundation of Michigan.

Mr. Stanley Jerome Johnson, MBA, founder of Gus Patrick Miller Foundation, is a savvy results oriented business executive. He is a very talented negotiator and team leader with the ability to contribute tremendously in most problem solving situations. His years in the corporate atmosphere have honed his decision making ability as well as his ease in proposing and implementing new systems.
While employed at IBM then Bayer Diagnostics, Mr. Johnson’s responsibilities included business analysis, budgeting, acquisitions and profit/loss reporting. His peers recognized him as a hands-on, proactive troubleshooter who would rapidly identify business problems and provide solutions. Business executives at all levels relied on his creative observation of details and their possible consequence/application.
Mr. Johnson believes in maximizing his return on investment which is why he has spent the last two decades focused on mental and physical discipline. This discipline put him in a position of preparedness to develop a business that truly taps his professional and even personal experiences. At Norfolk University, Mr. Johnson received his Bachelor of Science in Finance and a love for football.
The first business Mr. Johnson formed in whole was called Mega Sport Jewel. This business was formed to tap the market of sports entertainment such as the activities surrounding a Super Bowl Game or in the creation of an annual sports event. Mr. Johnson believes that we live best using our business sense to fund our life-long passions. That is why he loves the creation of business and capital accumulation but is passionate about understanding the athletic body and mind.
After attaining his MBA in Strategic Management from Eastern Michigan University (1998), Mr. Johnson was recruited by IBM to work in their headquarter offices in New York.
